Specialist Physiotherapist for ACL Reconstruction, Rotator Cuff Repair and Post-Operative Shoulder & Knee Rehabilitation. Dan is an experienced physiotherapist and strength & conditioning coach with specialist expertise in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, post-operative recovery, sports injuries, nutrition, and performance optimisation.
His clinical experience spans private practice, elite sport, post-operative rehabilitation, and the Ministry of Defence (MOD). During his time at Nuffield Health, Dan managed complex musculoskeletal and orthopaedic cases, developing a particular interest in the rehabilitation of ACL reconstructions, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder stabilisation procedures, and shoulder replacements. He also led the review and development of post-operative rehabilitation protocols to ensure they reflected current best evidence and clinical practice.
Dan is passionate about helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes following surgery, combining evidence-based rehabilitation with progressive strength and conditioning principles to restore function, reduce the risk of re-injury, and facilitate a safe return to sport, work, and daily life.
Alongside exercise-based rehabilitation, Dan has a strong interest in the use of manual therapy to support recovery following orthopaedic surgery. He incorporates techniques such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, myofascial release, and lymphatic drainage to help optimise movement, manage swelling, reduce pain, and enhance rehabilitation outcomes. He also provides manual therapy as a standalone service for injury prevention, recovery, and performance enhancement, working with sporting, rehabilitation, and bodybuilding populations. His treatment approach may include sports massage, Thai massage, myofascial release, and advanced soft tissue techniques tailored to individual goals.
Academically, Dan has lectured in Sports Therapy at the University of Essex and has published four research papers, including work investigating psychological factors influencing return to sport following ACL injury and the relationship between body composition and low back pain. His research background enables him to integrate the latest evidence into his clinical practice.
Dan has extensive experience in strength and conditioning, supporting athletes from recreational to elite level, including a world number one telemark skier, international runners, regional swimmers, and Paralympians. This unique combination of physiotherapy and performance coaching allows him to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and athletic performance.
Whether working with post-operative patients, athletes, or individuals seeking to improve their long-term health and function, Dan brings strong clinical reasoning, a personalised approach, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient outcomes.
